He was *this* close.

President Donald Trump welcomed a semi-high-profile celebrity during his Monday night rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, though it’s unclear whether he actually knew who that celebrity was.

Shortly after 1 a.m. EST, rapper and vocal Trump supporter Lil Pump took the stage. Trump was this close to getting the artist’s name right:  “Speaking of sound and music and other things—one of the big superstars of the world: Little Pimp!”

Trump seemed to recognize the gaffe quickly, laughing after the introduction and correcting himself as he invited Lil Pump to say something to the audience. He still only got the name half-right, though, referring to the 20-year-old “Gucci Gang” rapper as “Little Pump” the second time.

“Does everyone know who he is? You know how big he is?” Trump asked the audience, perhaps in an attempt to jog his own memory about the artist he was inviting to the stage.

Lil Pump—born Gazzy Garcia—then took to the podium to briefly address the crowd.

“I’ve come here to say, Mr. President, I appreciate everything you’ve done for our country. You brought the troops home, and you’re doing the right thing,” Lil Pump said. “MAGA 20, 20, 20! Don’t forget that. And do not vote for Sleepy Joe at all!”

Twitter users had a field day roasting Trump for his error, as well as roasting Lil Pump for his general existence and dwindling musical relevance. (The rapper has not had a Top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 since his 2018 Kanye West collaboration “I Love It.”)

“‘what i look like paying 30% in taxes’ – lil pump, who’s losing 50% of his income to his record label,” @BillRatchet tweeted, referencing an Instagram video Lil Pump posted last week in which he asked, “Fuck I look like paying an extra 33 in tax for Biden[’s] bitch ass, n***a?”

Twitter user @MKGRDC edited Pump’s “Gucci Gang” into a South Park clip in which Randy Marsh attempts to listen to “tween wave” music but discovers that it sounds like literal shit.

Plenty of users found the suggestion that Trump supporters would even recognize Lil Pump, let alone enjoy his music, hysterical.

@HipHopNumbers tweeted arguably the most damning assessment of Lil Pump’s career and Trump rally appearance: “Lil Pump hasn’t charted since April 2019 (Billboard 200 & Hot 100). 766 days since his last Hot 100 Top 10 (I Love It – 2018). He’s now ‘Lil Pimp’ endorsing Trump at 1am on election day… Life comes at you fast.”
