The first of two weekend-long beta tests for Titanfall 2, one of the most anticipated online multiplayer games of the year, is now open.
Players on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 have from now until Sunday to get a taste of the mech-filled first-person shooter from Respawn Entertainment. (Respawn shared a note with fans about why the beta wouldn’t be available to players on PC. In short, it hasn’t yet optimized for different hardware setups.)

According to Respawn, the test for the first weekend includes:
• New multiplayer maps (Boomtown and Homestead) and all-new loadouts.
• Two new Titans: Ion and Scorch.
• New game modes including Bounty Hunt, 5v5, Pilots vs. Pilots, 8v8.
The second test weekend, Aug, 26-28, will add Amped Hardpoint (6v6) mode and the Forward Base Koda map. Instructions for joining the betas can be found here.
Titanfall 2 has already received critical praise, with 2016 Game Critics Awards nominations for best of show, best action game, and a win for best online multiplayer.
The game launches on Oct. 28 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
