Twitter’s ‘This claim is disputed’ label becomes a meme

After Twitter added the fact-checking warning label “this claim is disputed” to tweets that the Twitter team believe contain misinformation, people were quick to appropriate the phrase and turn it into a meme. Especially brands.

Some of the memes were self-deprecating, such as “I have a girlfriend” or “I know what I’m doing with my life.”

While others were depressing (“everything’s going to be okay.”)

Some people are using the meme to criticize Twitter and its recent updates.

Well, at least the company is now giving people what they want…disappearing tweets?
