Remember Wolfenstein? That PC first-person shooter back in the ’90s that induced vomiting?
Sure, graphics have changed since then, but back in the day, it was incredibly immersive.
During the Indies vs. PewDiePie game jam late last month, the developers—Broforce creators Free Lives—made Super Wolfenstein HD, with added physics.
A game jam is a competition in which game developers are given a theme and an allotted time to create a game. Whichever team can create the best game, wins.
The theme for this game jam was that games had to be fun to play with an emphasis on humor. We think the guys over at Free Lives found that balance.
Super Wolfenstein HD is an odd mess of early first-person shooter action with a bit of Minecraft thrown in. All the walls are breakable, and the enemies wave their hands around like inflatable tube men. The enemies are also given wacky physics, so there’s some physical humor to be had.
We would recommend that everyone play this game. All you need is a Windows-based PC. Oh, did we mention, the game is absolutely free? You can download it here.
