Star Trek: Picard introduced us to the rare revival that wasn’t purely fueled by nostalgia, but you don’t have to sign up for another streaming service just to give it a shot.
CBS All Access released the first episode of Picard, titled “Remembrance,” for free on YouTube, so you don’t need an All Access account to start watching. It’s the kind of preview that allows all kinds of viewers to check it out before deciding whether to commit to the series. For casual fans, it’s an introduction to one of Star Trek’s most iconic characters. For Next Generation fans, it’s a return to form for their captain. For Star Trek fans who might not have been completely sold on Discovery, it’s a look at what All Access can do.

And the series premiere gives you a lot to think about. It drops you back into Picard’s life as a tragedy hangs over his head more than a decade after it happened and he lives a quiet retirement on his family’s vineyard with two Romulans (who act as his housekeepers) and his dog Number One. But that peaceful retirement won’t last long—after all, it’s a Star Trek series—once a mysterious woman arrives on Picard’s doorstep.
New episodes of Star Trek: Picard drop on CBS All Access on Thursdays.
