After teasing story developments in the world of Overwatch, Blizzard has unveiled the popular FPS game’s new hero, Orisa. An invention of the young Numbani scientist Efi Oladele, this robotic spider will function similarly to heroes like Reinhardt and Winston. Additionally, the game’s director Jeff Kaplan details the decisions behind the character’s design and gameplay roles in an extended update.
Kaplan described Orisa’s rotating fire weapon as well as the barrier she can deploy around teammates. Her ultimate will supercharge the attacks of nearby allies as well. This quadruped is a first for the competitive shooter, and quite an atypical design for a female character.
Orisa is available to play in the game’s preview PTR on PC and will come to consoles soon.
