One of the standout reveals at last year’s E3 was Sony’s PlayStation exclusive Spider-Man game developed by Spyro and Ratchet and Clank masterminds Insomniac Games. Though last year treated fans to a simple teaser, Sony pulled out all the stops with nearly 10 minutes of continuous gameplay at its 2017 event.
As seen below, the demo reveals veteran voice actor Yuri Lowenthal as the star, as well as a brief cameo from Miles Morales, the man behind the mask in Marvel’s current run of Spidey comics. Players will be controlling Peter Parker, so Miles’ involvement is a major question at the moment. The world premiere of gameplay highlighted a combat system that borrows heavily from Arkham Knight and recent Batman games, as well as a worryingly strong emphasis on quick-time events.

Spider-Man is seen fighting goons involved with the Kingpin, aka Wilson Fisk, as well as a vaguely super-powered executive who escapes in a helicopter. Then, the action jumps to the city-swinging that fans of the Spider-Man 2 tie-in game from the PS2-era should feel delighted by.
This footage had several ups and downs, but it does give us a much better sense of what the title will actually look like. With a mix of cinematic set pieces and open-world roaming, it seems that this game will provide Spider-Man fans the superhero experience they have come to expect.
No release date was given, but the game is expected exclusively for PS4 in 2018.
