Spider-Man: Homecoming follows directly on from Captain America: Civil War, but if you never got around to watching Civil War, don’t worry. The film begins with Peter Parker recapping his adventures with Iron Man and Captain America, filmed in teen vlog style on Peter’s phone.
Sony and Marvel have released Peter’s vlog in advance, giving you a taste of Homecoming‘s sense of humor. Sometimes it can be a little annoying to see clips before a movie comes out, but you can watch this one without worrying about Homecoming spoilers.

Homecoming gives Peter Parker a slightly different role than we saw in the comics or previous Spider-Man movies. Aunt May is younger than before, and Peter now has a best friend named Ned Leeds. Peter’s video diary is a fun twist on his usual role as an amateur photographer, and feels like a good fit for Homecoming’s teen movie tone.
