White House briefings with Press Secretary Sean Spicer tend to have a few common themes: half-truths, awkward confrontations with members of the White House Press Corps, and moments that inevitably goes viral. But it turns out they work pretty well with a Muppets staple guaranteed to get stuck in your head.
The Late Show noticed that Spicer says “phenomenal” a lot—some of which have been used to describe the kind of job President Donald Trump and his administration have done—and after awhile all of the “phenomenals” blur together. When paired with the Snowths, the pink Muppets who are best known for a particularly iconic rendition of “Mahna Mahna,” Spicer is a perfect stand-in for Mahna Mahna himself.
And it doesn’t work anywhere near as well when Trump says it—they know something’s up.
