I spent far too many hours of my youth seated in front of the family computer, building complex rollercoasters, turning them into mega theme parks, and then cleaning up visitor vomit from the walkways. Ah, the good old days. Now, you can reap that same joy on your iPhone or Android phone: Atari just released RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic into the wild.
The new game is based on the original 1999 and 2002 games RollerCoaster Tycoon and RollerCoaster Tycoon 2. With the same visual style as the original, you can construct your own coasters, design entire parks, and manage the marketing, financing, and operations of the experience. It includes 95 different classic park scenarios, and more can be purchased through two $1.99 expansion packs.
RollerCoaster Tycoon diehards may have already been aware (or downloaded) RollerCoaster Tycoon 4, which has been around since 2014. This was a new, mobile-optimized extension of the series. Today’s game, however, is more of a straight-up relaunch of the original PC franchise, just designed for mobile rather than the desktop. And if you somehow still have RollerCoaster Tycoon 2, you can even import and export saved parks between the PC game and this mobile version.
The game, unfortunately, isn’t free—but neither was the original. You can download it for $5.99 from the App Store or Google Play.
