The PlayStation 4’s latest system software update will add a feature that many fans have wanted: the ability to add their own external hard drives for large downloads.
Update 4.50 will let players connect any external hard drive up to 8TB via the console’s USB 3.0 port and keep games and software installed on it. Content will still appear on the home menu and can be managed through the settings menu.
Players will also benefit from updates to the notifications system and activity feed, as well as the ability to take custom screenshots and set them as their system’s home wallpaper.
For the full patch notes, check out the official PlayStation Blog post. Players that signed up for Sony’s beta will be able to try out the update starting next week.
