Neil deGrasse Tyson‘s new talk show has an airdate, and it’s an appropriate one for lengthy discussions about space: April 20, also known as 420. Stoner Christmas.
The late-night show, which will air on National Geographic, is a continuation of Dr. Tyson’s podcast series StarTalk. Taped in front of a live audience at the Rose Center for Earth and Space in New York City, StarTalk will see Tyson discuss science-related topics with celebrity guests.
The StarTalk podcast ran from 2009 to 2014, winning over a devoted audience thanks to its casual, comedic tone and guest panelists ranging from Buzz Aldrin to John Oliver.
The move to National Geographic has already brought in a whole host of high-profile guests, including former president Jimmy Carter/, director Christopher Nolan, actor George Takei, astronaut Chris Hadfield, and scientist Richard Dawkins.
In other words, Tyson has a dynamite lineup for what could be called “science fandom,” the many people who follow Takei and Hadfield on social media and enjoy watching Neil deGrasse Tyson criticize sci-fi movies like Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar.
Oh, and Bill Nye the Science Guy will make weekly appearances on the show, because nothing gets between the Nye/Tyson partnership.
StarTalk will air on Mondays at 11PM. Try to stay clear-headed on its 4/20 premiere night—you wouldn’t want to miss out.
