A Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) parody account known as ‘Mini AOC’ has left Twitter and all other social media platforms after claiming it was subjected to doxxing and death threats.

A recent controversial tweet from the account sought to parody a photo set of Ocasio-Cortez that was recently rediscovered. In the original photos, Ocasio-Cortez is seen looking sullen and heartbroken outside of a child-housing complex for undocumented immigrants in Tornillo, Texas.
I’ll never forget this, because it was the moment I saw with my own eyes that the America I love was becoming a nation that steals refugee children from their parents,& caged them.

More kids died after this. To date, no one has been held accountable.
We need to save these kids. https://t.co/HhdMqc5zML
The original photos attracted divisive reactions online.
The Mini AOC tweet that spurred so much ire chose to poke fun at the suffering of the children being held at such complexes. The account recreated Ocasio-Cortez’s photos under the premise that Mini AOC was upset the park she wanted to go to was closed. Ava Martinez, the 8-year-old girl who plays the role and her parents who operate the Mini AOC accounts quickly received backlash for this particular attempt at a parody.

Many online were quick to point out the exploitative nature of the Mini AOC account in using a child to gain popularity and attention online.

You know how sometimes you feel like humanity is hopeless? Go look up “Mini AOC” & weep. A parent actually using their minor child for their own political, racist, sociopathic agenda. I feel sick. I don’t know how Twitter allows it.

Following the account’s deletion, Martinez’s stepfather Salvatore Schachter released a statement confirming that the social media accounts were in fact deleted with the hope of preserving the family’s safety.
