Minh Nguyen, a venture advisor who founded the social networking startup Plaxo, has been charged with first-degree murder in Virginia.
According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Nguyen is in police custody after a “domestic-related homicide” that took place on Jan. 15. The victim’s identity has not been announced by police, but he has been identified by multiple sources as Corey Mattison, who recently married Nguyen’s ex-wife.
Police say Nguyen broke into a home around 9:30pm Jan. 15 and shot the man inside the home while two children were also there. Nguyen’s ex-wife came home with another child during the incident, but nobody else was injured.
Along with first-degree murder, Nguyen is being charged with the use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Since founding Plaxo, Nguyen has been an advisor to multiple startups such as App Press and Syllabuster, according to his LinkedIn page.
Nguyen is currently being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bail. The investigation is ongoing.
