Megan Thee Stallion is taking her album promotion to the next level, surprising fans with almost-nude shots and revealing her first official album, Good News, is scheduled to be released on Nov. 20.
The “WAP” rapper this week celebrated her followers for staying with her through noteworthy troubles during 2020, topping it off with the announcement of her official debut album.
The caption reads: “Hotties, I first want to say thank you for riding with me, growing with me, and staying down with me since my first mixtape Rich Ratchet! Through this rough ass year we’ve all been having I felt like we could all use a lil bit of good news. So with that being said MY OFFICIAL ALBUM “GOOD NEWS” IS DROPPING NOVEMBER 20TH PRE ORDER WILL BE AVAILABLE TONIGHT #GOODNEWSMEGAN“
She subsequently posted additional, web-breaking photos from the shoot.
The Houston native, born Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, covered herself with a few mockup newspapers, which could be Easter eggs about the album’s content.
With Good News as a year-capping surprise, Megan has had a mostly winning year. “Savage” and “WAP” (which featured Cardi B) were smash hits. She wrote an essay for the New York Times too, “Why I Speak Up For Black Women.” She earned rave reviews for her performance on Saturday Night Live and started a scholarship fund for women students of color.
However, the biggest news came in a July incident where Megan was allegedly shot in the foot by rapper Tory Lanez in the Hollywood Hills. The Canadian artist was arrested on a felony count of carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, plus one felony count (each) of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered handgun in a vehicle.
Lanez is due in court next week.
