A truly great mashup takes two vastly different songs and makes them sound like they were meant to be. A college student recently created such a phenomenon—and Twitter is loving it.
Noah Charlick (@noah_charlick) tweeted Monday that he’d either “made a great discovery or a terrible mistake,” along with a mashup recording of Kendrick Lamar’s “Backstreet Freestyle” and the 1985 hit single “Take on Me” by A-Ha. In only a couple days, the video has over 6 million views.

The video has also been shared over 500,000 times. Twitter users can’t seem to get enough of it.

Charlick’s creation has all the elements of a brilliant mashup: Two highly unlikely songs melded together to sound like they were meant to be mashed all along.
The whole genre of mashups, which spiked in popularity in the late 2000s and early 2010s, just aren’t as currently popular in today’s music. Despite that, many people have Charlick’s remix on repeat. He’s made the song available on his SoundCloud and YouTube account, but be warned: It may get stuck in your head, too.
