No, not *that* Ajit Pai.

While Federal Communications Commission chair Ajit Pai was busy dismantling net neutrality Thursday, another Ajit Pai was getting some of the blame for it. Social media users hit up the other Pai, an Indian DJ, on Instagram to ask, “Hey, what’s the big idea with allowing corporations to tax, slow down, or block certain parts of the internet?”

DJ Ajit Pai had a good response: Actually, he’s pro net-neutrality!

Pai, who hails from Goa, is a nearly 20-year veteran of India’s House music scene. His Instagram handle is “ajitpaiofficial,” which kind of sounds like a handle the FCC chairman would have. The American Ajit’s Insta, which has less than 1,000 followers, is @ajitvpaifcc, and he’s on Twitter as @ajitpaiFCC. You can understand the confusion.

“Please don’t repeal net neutrality,” wrote the hilariously named @daddys.cummie.wummies on DJ Ajit Pai’s Instagram.

“Fuck u,” added another poster. And “I ain’t paying for no porn,” wrote a third.

Others helpfully jumped in to point out that these critics had the wrong Ajit Pai. But the DJ was totally friendly and civil about the mix-up, and he wanted to make his own stance on the issue known:

“am FOR net neutrality. SURPRISE !💥💥”

Nice, nice. Now, the “good Ajit Pai” has become a minor folk hero in his own comments.

Someone even proposed a “petition for good ajit pai and evil ajit pie to play an intense game of chess to decide the fate of net neutrality.”

Unfortunately for us, Good Ajit Pai is in residence at Club Tito’s in Goa, where he plays bangers all night and can’t save the American internet from its sad, corporatized fate.

Also, despite all the comments suggesting he change his name to avoid being confused with the internet’s villain du jour, DJ Ajit Pai has no plans to do so.

“My name I’m definitely not changing,” he wrote “This is who I am since birth. Can’t be changing it for the actions of my namesake. The fcc Ajit Pai will be out of circulation once the net neutrality issue is resolved. None of this will matter then. So am gonna stick to the name. And Thank you for the help and concern. I appreciate. ❤️”

We appreciate too, Ajit. We don’t deserve you.
