The world’s chillest grandma just made front-page news in Australia for her generous peace-offering to the stoners who kept stealing her garden hoses to make bongs.
Julia McCall noticed that the middle parts of her hose kept disappearing over the years. Her son told her that kids were likely cutting it up to make the cheapest bongs imaginable, and she decided to do something about it.
McCall cut up part of another hose and left it for the taking, along with a note that read, “Please don’t chop my hose again. Help yourself to this bit for your bong.” She’s already becoming a local legend.

“I thought it might bring a little shame to them, to stop pinching my hose like that, but it was also a bit of a joke, too, I suppose,” she told Central Sydney. “I think in this day and age tolerance is a necessary component, isn’t it? We all have to live with each other and if we can ease it a little, so much the better.”
If you’re wondering how the hell kids are smoking out of a garden hose, well, apparently it’s something of a specialty in the land down under, where medical marijuana was approved on the federal level in February. We found this helpful YouTube tutorial for how to make “the Australian bong,” but frankly, it looks like more trouble than it’s worth—even with the help of one generous grandma.
