Gossip Girl, the hit show that ran on the CW for six seasons starting in 2007, is about to return. HBO Max will soon be streaming a sequel to the show, focusing on a new cast of characters but retaining the original title.
So what better time for a new Gossip Girl meme? Fans of the show may remember the “Three Words, Eight Letters” meme that made the rounds a couple of years ago, and this new meme once again has to do with letters.
This time the meme is about anagramming the show’s title. The basic format is to have Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) asking a question in the top panel and Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) answering her by rearranging the letters in the show’s title. Often the word “girl” is retained in full, but the longer the meme sticks around the weirder things get.
In true Gossip Girl fashion, there’s even some shade being thrown around. Twitter user Elizabeth (@peeanofreek) decided to use the meme to remind everyone that Blake Lively married her husband Ryan Reynolds on a plantation.
HBO Max launches next month, but thus far there is no specific release date for the 10 new episodes of Gossip Girl. Until then, you can check out the original run on Netflix or just enjoy the memes.
