The scarecrow isn’t the only creature walking at midnight when all of R.L. Stine’s monster are unleashed into the world.
The live-action Goosebumps movie doesn’t bring a particular one of the author’s books to life, but rather all of them as a teenage boy stumbles upon Stine’s locked manuscripts and accidentally lets one loose. As luck would have it, the rest of them are set free as well, and the creatures we recognize from our childhoods are out to cause havoc.
Jack Black, who plays the curmudgeonly author, reassured us last year that the film portrays a “fictionalized version of [Stine’s] life and nothing that happens in this movie actually happened to him.” But we can just as easily imagine Stine’s bookshelf of creepy manuscripts that will hopefully never be opened.
