Ever been stumped on what to give the geek in your life? A new curation website hopes to change that by scouring the Web for the best geek gifts.
Best of all, it hopes to make enough money to support your favorite science education organizations in the process.
Geekwrapped is a newly launched geek store that aims to curate the best science-related gifts from the Internet and then use referrals from partner websites like Etsy and Amazon to generate a profit for charity. It will donate 50 percent of sales to the cause.
Among the science nonprofits Geekwrapped officially supports are the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Smithsonian Institute, National Math and Science Initiative, Planetary Society, and Society for Science and the Public.
So far, the list of products Geekwrapped has curated falls well within the Venn diagram of “people who love science” and “people who love cool shit.” The items run the gamut of weird, wacky, and fascinating—from “blood infusion shower gel” to weightless flight reservations at a parabolic flight research center. How’s that for a holiday gift?
