Trump dismisses obstruction of justice investigation with ‘nice’ tweet

There’s really only one appropriate time to use ‘nice’ on the internet.

donald trump tweets phony obstruction of justice

Last night, news broke that Special Counsel Robert Mueller was looking into President Donald Trump for possibly committing obstruction of justice.

The report by the Washington Post stated that Mueller’s team was slated to interview two members of Trump’s national security team who both claim the president asked them to issue statements saying that stories of collusion between the Russian government and the Trump campaign were nonsense. It’s a stance the president has repeatedly publicly stated, and one he reiterated this morning on Twitter.

Trump’s statement also comes on the heels of Attorney General Jeff Sessions‘ testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee. Sessions called the matter an “appalling” set of lies, but he also refused to reveal contents of conversations he had with Trump that could have shed light on whether Trump intended to obstruct justice when he fired former FBI Director James Comey.

An hour after the “nice” tweet, Trump continued to reiterate his stance that the investigation was a farce, tweeting again that it was a “witch hunt.”

It was the earlier tweet, however, that had the internet questioning Trump after he concluded his tweet with a word lifted straight from web lexicon.
