Whovians dreading the impending conclusion of the current season of Doctor Who don’t have to worry about missing the Doctor over the next few months—as long as they embrace their crafty side. With a little 3D printing, you can bring the TARDIS wherever you go, thanks toBecky Stern, director of wearable electronics at Adafruit Industries.
Stern walks you through the steps needed to build your own tiny TARDIS in an easy-to-follow YouTube video. Using 3D designs and LEDs, you can construct a pocket TARDIS that will even light up! A list of everything you’ll need is on Adafruit’s website.
The pendant is tiny enough to be worn around your neck, but you can build a larger version to serve as a room decoration, giving you space to include a bigger battery. Considering the circuitry and the need for a 3D printer, this little spaceship time machine might be a challenge for beginners, but the easy-to-read step-by-step guide, the video walkthrough, and the increasing availability of 3D-printing services make it at least worth a try for die-hard fans.
