The Cybermen are one of Doctor Who‘s most reliable villains, returning every few years with a terrifying new upgrade. Season 10 is going back to basics, revitalizing the original Cybermen from the 1966 serial “The Tenth Planet.”
While the more recent Cybermen look like badass chrome robots, the original models basically look like actors wearing silver jumpsuits and masks. Yet somehow, this makes them even more menacing. Maybe it’s the creepy rubber gloves.
Guess who’s back!

It’s the original Mondasian Cybermen, returning for eps 11 & 12 of the new series!https://t.co/F6G9YQrVCb#DoctorWho pic.twitter.com/fOchIo4KaY
Originating on the planet Mondas, the 1966 Cybermen are known as Mondasian Cybermen. According to the BBC, they’re also Peter Capaldi‘s favorite classic Who villain, which explains why they’re returning to the show.
You can see them in episodes 11 and 12 of season 10, which begins on April 15.
