Although it’s pretty futile to get anything out of any actor who is (or might be) in Avengers: Endgame about the film’s plot, it can occasionally serve up a very good meme.
Chadwick Boseman, who plays Black Panther (and whose character died in Avengers: Infinity War) isn’t currently part of the Avengers: Endgame press tour. But while he was at CinemaCon—a convention in which studios preview upcoming films to theater owners—to promote 21 Bridges last week, he was asked about Endgame by Access.
“It’s great, but I’m dead,” Boseman replied.
Which, as it turns out, is incredibly relatable—and maybe just the excuse you need to get out of work and school to watch Avengers: Endgame if you weren’t able to get your hands on Thursday night tickets.

Sending someone a video or GIF of Boseman’s response to Endgame questions is like a catch-all. Need to get out of the plans you’ve made? Send a GIF. Avoiding responsibilities? Send a GIF. Want to sound particularly nihilistic online? Send a GIF.
Officially speaking, Black Panther is currently dead—although, due to both the nature of comic book films and the fact that writer-director Ryan Coogler is working on a Black Panther sequel, he’s almost certainly coming back at some point. But it’s not like Boseman can say anything about that right now considering how little the MCU’s actors can actually tell us about the film. So until Endgame is released, that’s all he can really say.
