Tiger King star Carole Baskin is once again at the center of Twitter’s meme stage following the announcement she will be hitting the Dancing With the Stars stage come mid-September.
On Wednesday, more chaotic energy spewed out of 2020 when Dancing With the Stars announced Baskin as part of its newest lineup of celebrity dancers.
Baskin dominated the internet in late March when the Netflix docuseries about an eccentric Oklahoma zoo owner, Joseph Maldonado-Passage aka Joe Exotic, was released. Baskin owns a big cat refuge and embodied Exotic’s nemesis on the series.
Theories surrounding the mysterious disappearance of Baskin’s husband, Don Lewis, resurfaced with the show along with a hurricane of memes related to Baskin and her many cat-print outfits.
Even Kim Kardashian joined in on the conversation at the time.
While Baskin will be under a different spotlight, Twitter users aren’t ready to let go of her seemingly shady past.
“Carole Baskin after she loses Dancing With the Stars,” editor Philip Lewis wrote to go along with the meme of Kris Jenner brandishing a gun.
Even Chilli’s threw some shade her way. “Can’t wait to watch @carole_baskin do what she does best and kill the #DWTS competition!” the restaurant chain tweeted.
Many, who legitimately believe Baskin killed her husband, are decrying the white privilege that would let her compete in a dancing competition for money. “Carole baskin kills her husband and gets put on a dancing show but we can’t arrest any of the cops who killed breonna Taylor ??” one user questioned.
Others just couldn’t get past the chaotic lineup of contestants, which includes Nelly, Selling Sunset’s Chrishell Stause, Catfish’s Nev Schulman, and Twitter icon Skai Jackson.
“I have never truly consumed dancing with the stars but you’re telling me that Chrishell from Selling Sunset, Nev from Catfish and CAROLE BASKIN will be sharing a stage in some capacity??? might just have to dive in,” one tweeted.
Season 29 of DWTS premieres Monday, Sept. 14, on ABC.
