Britney Spears, long-hailed as the queen of pop, has just been named “queen of the proletariat.” Spears shared an Instagram post from writer Mimi Zhu that said called to “feed each other, redistribute wealth, strike” amid the coronavirus and “time of isolation.” Fans are loving the message.
“Call your loved ones, write virtual love letters,” the post reads. “Technologies like virtual communication, streaming and broadcasting are part of our community collaboration. We will learn to kiss and hold each other through the waves of the web.”
Spears captioned the post with the caption, “communion goes beyond walls,” accompanied by three rose emoji. The rose is a logo of the Democratic Socialists of America and has traditionally been a symbol of socialism.
Fans showed support for Spears and socialist ideology in the comments.
“Britney Spears said ‘GENERAL STRIKE’ queen of proletariat,” one user commented.
“Email my heart. So ahead of its time,” another user said.
Earlier this week, Spears posted a video on Instagram urging followers to message her if she could help them out while they are self-quarantining.
“Our world is going through such hard times right now … whether it’s with food, or I’m getting your child diapers, or whatever it is, DM me and I will help you out,” Spears said.
