Little boy runs from 5-year-old girl in wrestling match

If you can’t beat the competition, run from them. And if you happen to be stuck in a ringed space, well, run that much harder.

That’s my takeaway from watching Isaiah Lineberry, a 4-year-old from Ohio, in his second-ever wrestling match against a 5-year-old girl at a tournament in December. Isaiah spends most of the match running in circles, but ultimately, he’s forced to confront his foe—and it priceless.

“I asked him afterwards, ‘So why did you run?’” Isaiah’s mother, Alexis Salyers, told ABC News. “And he said, ‘I don’t know, Mommy, but it was silly.’”

Indeed. The only thing missing from the video—which was uploaded three weeks ago but is only now making the rounds—is Yakety Sax.

Wrestling apparently runs in Isaiah’s family—his dad wrestled in high school and his stepfather is a wrestling coach at Ohio State University—but he’s still learning the ropes.

To be fair, Salyers reports that Isaiah has rebounded in recent bouts, taking top four placements in several tournaments since then. But something tells me he’s missing that killer instinct.

Just remember Isaiah: There’s no shame in being pinned by a girl.
