After receiving criticism for becoming a rushed, yearly franchise, Assassin’s Creed took some time off following Syndicate. The next chapter has finally been revealed at E3 2017. Coming on Oct. 27, Assassin’s Creed Origins takes players back to the start of the Assassin’s Brotherhood in ancient Egypt.
Players control Bayek, a wandering warrior who controls an eagle named Senu that players can use to scope out crowded areas. The brief trailer showed off wildlife like cheetahs and a giant snake of some kind, while a live 4K gameplay demonstration went into detail on the updated combat system.
Updates to combat include a branching RPG-like progression system, that rewards you for making consistent choices regarding stealth or a more direct approach. You will be able to loot enemies for new gear and weapons that fit your preferred playstyle.
Assassin’s Creed Origins comes to PS4, PC, and Xbox One on Oct. 27.
