After nearly three months of primaries and caucuses, did Mitt Romney finally wrap up the Republican presidential nomination? It would seem so, at least according to Twitter and Facebook.

Almost immediately after, and in some cases before, Romney won contests in Maryland, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia on Tuesday night, people were talking about him and the general election. His only real competition, Rick Santorum, has half as many delegates and really needed a win in Wisconsin to legitimize his continuation in the race. On, Facebook however, it appeared Santorum was going to keep fighting.

“We’re grateful for our supporters in Maryland and Wisconsin – thank you. We now turn to our home state of Pennsylvania, where the latest poll shows us up by 6. A win there will give us the momentum we need going into Texas, where the nomination may be decided. Please contribute to help us continue to Pennsylvania and beyond!,” Santorum wrote.

Romney, on the other hand, was taking dead aim at the general election—at least on Twitter.
