If there’s one demographic that’s sorely underrepresented in the world of video games, it’s bears.
Wait, what?
Indie game developer Farjay Studios are crowdfunding a Bear Simulator on Kickstarter, pointing out the disproportionate number of human protagonists in popular video games. The Bear Simulator pretty much does what it says on the tin, allowing players to experience life as a bear. You forage for berries, hunt for trout, wander around a forest… you get the picture. And apparently the idea is pretty popular.
The Kickstarter has funded two thirds of its $29,000 goal in just three days, as more and more backers are drawn in by the irresistible description of a game that’s “like a mini Skyrim, but you’re a bear.”
We kind of love the fact that such a blatantly goal-free game is so popular. Who knew that so many people had a secret desire to just be a bear, lumbering around, eating things, and napping in a cave?
OK, when you put it like that, it does sound pretty appealing. The Kickstarter page doesn’t say whether you’re able to do the thing that bears most famously do in the woods, though.
