The multiplayer RPG Ultima Online came on the scene in 1997, and it remains a thriving, persistent world to this day.
Two decades later, those who prefer the “classic” version host private servers (shards) where longtime players congregate.
This week on 2 Girls 1 Podcast, Alli and Jen (actors who perform weird internet stuff on stage) speak with Alyssa Schnugg, a grandmother in real life and a veteran guildmaster in the Free City of Trinsic, a bustling multiplayer enclave in Ultima Online Forever.
Schnugg shares what it takes to be a guildmaster and the deeply personal relationships (including romantic ones!) that blossom inside this retro gaming world.
