Last night’s Games of Thrones ended on the most memorable cliffhanger since Jon Snow received several daggers to the chest in season five. And although the teaser for episode 5 didn’t reveal the fate of the Kingslayer, it whetted our appetite with several major moments.
Here’s what you need to know.
Daenerys offers clemency: Despite numerous parallels to her father, the Mad King Aerys, and her torching of Lannisters on the battlefield, she eschews killing the survivors from the Field of Fire, as long as they are willing to serve her. But in the very next scene, both Tyrion and Varys are very, very worried about what she did.
Jon meets a Dragon: When Jon Snow first came to Dragonstone, he got buzzed by a dragon as he uttered the words, “I’m not a Stark.” His fallacious heritage as Ned Snow’s bastard came up again this episode, and in the teaser, he stands face-to-face with one of Dany’s dragons. Is this the moment Jon Snow finds out he too can ride the beast?
The Night King goes East: Jon tells Davos that Bran saw in a vision that the Night King is heading to Eastwatch-by-the-sea. Eagle-eyed viewers noticed in the opening credits that the sea there is now frozen over. Tormund Giantsbane is currently guarding that castle with the wildlings. Does he know a massive army of the undead is right around the corner? And that they won’t have to go over the wall to reach him?
