Another day, another smattering of Fortnite season 8 news. The focus lately has been on earthquakes rumbling throughout the Fortnite map and leaving giant gaping cracks in the earth. But the Fortnite Twitter account just dropped some teasers apparently involving pirates, snake monsters, and maybe even an AI-controlled boss? Here’s everything we know about the possible Fortnite season 8 pirate theme.

The Fortnite Twitter account on Sunday tweeted an image and a pleasant little rhyme: “’X’ Marks The Spot, treasure abound, loot that has been lost, can always be found. 4 days to Season 8.”

Treasure abound
Loot that has been lost
Can always be found.

The image clearly shows a pirate’s hook hand, and along with the obvious pirate-themed text, it seems to imply that pirates or treasure hunters will play some sort of role in season 8. The line “loot that has been lost can always be found” might indicate that players could be able to find loot or skins that they missed out on in previous seasons. Fortnite’s entire business model is sustained off of the limited-time availability of some really cool outfits for your character, so it would be a significant move if it turned out that way.
A second helping of Fortnite season 8 teases came on Monday.
“Sssomething shimmers, within the cave…, but beware of those, who arrive on waves. 3 days to Season 8,” the tweet reads.

It looks like some serpents will play a role in Fortnite season 8, as well. One very observant Twitter user noticed that both images formed to make a skull, once again tying into the pirate motif.

These developments have some Fortnite fans wondering if they’ll be facing some sort of AI-controlled boss monster. Fortnite started out as a player-versus-AI-enemy game and has since pulled off multiple world-changing events in the infinitely more popular Battle Royale mode. Those events have included a rocket flying around the sky and a concert from Marshmello that every player could witness if they logged on at the right time.
