Donald Glover may be the toast of the town for his hit FX series Atlanta, but the nerdier parts of his fanbase can’t wait to see him in the upcoming Han Solo movie.
Director Ron Howard, who landed the project after a recent director shakeup, shared the first picture we’ve seen of Donald Glover in his role as Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Star Wars Anthology film.
Glover, known for his work writing for 30 Rock and acting on Community, was announced as the pick for Lando in late 2016. The multi-talented actor, musician, and creator has been successful in most every project he has undertaken, which gives fans hope that the upcoming space western will reach similar heights.
Though the picture doesn’t reveal much, it gives fans just enough of a glance behind the scenes to rev up excitement for the as-yet-unnamed film centered around Han Solo’s origin story. The release date is set for May 25, 2018, and the cast list boasts a number of talented names, including Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke, Crashing‘s Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Woody Harrelson.
With such a star-studded cast, questions abound about the origin story. Maybe we will get to see Han win the Falcon from Lando, or even Han and Chewbacca’s first meeting?
One thing we know for sure? We can’t wait.
