r/politics‘s latest petition push is to make election day in the U.S. a national holiday. Unfortunately, redditor super6logan shows up with a nice serving of wet towel: “I’m pretty sure that a long time ago a redditor posted a letter he received back from his congressman explaining that research has shown this doesn’t actually increase voter turn-out.” Redditor dynam0 backs him up with a study. Speaking of AMAs, yesterday a group of redditors exposed a scammer who’d used r/IAmA as a platform to hawk a phony get-rich-quick scheme. Redditors probably shouldn’t have been duped so easily in the first place, but the detective work by BananaMoustache, COW_GO_MOO, and V3rtigo was impressive. (/r/self)
