AnonGhost, an anti-Israeli hacking crew associated with Anonymous, has announced on its Facebook page and blog Saturday that it’s getting out of the hacking business.

“Good luck everyone,” AnonGhost wrote, “hope we could make a change and if we hurt someone by mistake we r sorry but Israel will never have rest we will be always around to fuck israel more and more we r the nightmare of Israel.”

In a Facebook post sprinkled with more hearts than a junior high school love letter, the group wrote, “AnonGhost Closed , It Was an Unforgetable Moment But We just Move on AnonGhost Was here.” So true.

As of Monday morning, however, the first part of the quote seems to have dropped off the post, leading commenters to ask, “i thought that anonGhost is closed? explaine this to me” and “anonghost is back?”

AnonGhost was known for its hacks of large numbers of Israeli websites in campaigns like OpIsrael.

They group has also gotten a reputation, however, for exaggerating the scope and effectiveness of its hacks and releasing “hacked” documents that have turned out to be old or already easily accessible.

In a conversation with Techworm, “Mauritania Attacker,” one of the group’s two dozen members, told the publication, “(A)ll we wanna say is that we left cyber world with honor and if Israel do Something we will come back to punish them again.”

The Daily Dot has contacted AnonGhost for comment, but has not yet received a reply.
