A popular Euphoria reaction and recaption meme from 2022 has made a comeback as people recreate the ‘B*tch you better be” meme in various scenes from movies, TV shows, and more.
Origin of the ‘B*tch you better be joking’ meme
The original meme comes from season two of HBO’s Euphoria, which was released on Jan. 23, 2022. In the scene, Cassie is dressed in a way that is very out of character. A couple of the other characters tell her she looks like she’s auditioning for Oklahoma! while another tells her she looks like she’s dressed, “like a country music star,” to which Cassie replies, “In a good or bad way?” The other girl, Maddy, snaps back, “B*tch, you better be joking,” and quickly became a meme online as a reaction image.
The meme, originally used in its original form as a reaction image to over-the-top situations, deviated over time to become edits of other popular series and then slowly died down. However, near the beginning of April 2025, it reemerged from obscurity once more after @cig4romist posted an edit of the original meme on X, formerly known as Twitter, on April 6, 2025.
Their tweet was quote-retweeted by @limpmitskit, who created a Euphoria parody meme of Limp Bizkit on April 7, and that was when the resurgence really took off.
