Model tries to eat 100 McDonald’s cheeseburgers, only gets through 45

It was a heck of an effort from Nela Zisser.

Eating challenges are the best, especially when the seemingly impossible is attempted. That’s one reason the latest idea from Nela Zisser—a competitive eater who also was Miss Earth New Zealand 2013—is so tempting.

How many of us have dreamed of the day we could stuff unlimited amounts of cheeseburgers into our gullets until we get so full that we puke out an entire cow? Luckily, Zisser, in the video below, shows us exactly what could happen if we tried to eat 100 burgers in one sitting. She shows us the possibilities of the universe, if only we had the courage to try to reach for the stars.

She took her inspiration from Yuka Kinoshita, who once ate 62 burgers in a day. (Zisser, on the other hand, probably did not get inspiration from the hungry dude who once stacked 10 McRibs together and attempted to eat them as one humongous sandwich.)

But this isn’t some hot-apple-pie-in-the-sky idea from Zisser—who posts a variety of eating challenges on her YouTube page, including eating a dozen doughnuts in 96 seconds, noshing on 4.4 pounds of gyoza, and snacking on five pounds of frozen yogurt. For this challenge, she obtained half cheeseburgers and half chicken burgers and included different kinds of sauces on the sandwiches to help her deal with “flavor fatigue.”

As far as training is concerned, she said that for the week previous to this attempt, she’d been eating plenty of dense, low-calorie foods along with gallons of water.

“Your stomach is a muscle and it does stretch, but you do need to be careful,” she said. “I wouldn’t take on a challenge like this without preparing… It can be dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing.”

So, a sense of danger! Onward with the demonstration!

Though she ultimately failed—seriously, how weak a showing is it to only eat 45 burgers? That, after all, is only about 12 pounds worth of beef, bread, chicken, and cheese—here’s what we hope will be next on Zisser’s agenda. A winner-take-all matchup against this woman who once ate three 72-ounce steak dinners in a row.

And in case you were wondering about Zisser’s beauty pageant career, after winning the Miss Earth New Zealand title in 2013, she was set to compete in the Miss Earth world finals. But at the last minute, she had to pull out of the competition. The reason: She had food poisoning.
