Former Vice President Joe Biden once again referred to one of his rivals seeking the Democratic party’s 2020 nomination as the president during Thursday night’s 2020 Democratic debate.
Biden mistakenly referred to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) as “president” during an exchange about their differing healthcare policies.
“If you’ve noticed, nobody’s yet said how much it’s going to cost the taxpayer. I hear there are large savings, the president thinks—my friend from Vermont thinks—that the employer is going to give you back if you negotiate as a union all these years… they’re going to give back that money to the employee?” Biden said, laughing.
“As a matter of fact, they will,” Sanders responded.

This isn’t the first time Biden has referred to a 2020 rival as “president” during a debate.
During the second 2020 Democratic presidential debate, Biden mistakenly referred to Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) as the “president,” correcting himself and calling him the “future president” while grabbing his shoulder.
Booker quickly responded: “I’m grateful that he endorsed my presidency already.”
The latest “president” gaffe was noticed.
