Ivanka Trump, a high-ranking adviser to President Donald Trump with an office in the White House, said she likes “to stay out of politics” during an interview with Fox & Friends early Monday morning.
“I try to stay out of politics,” she told Ainsley Earhardt. “His political instincts are phenomenal. He did something that no one could have imagined he’d be able to accomplish… But I don’t profess to be a political savant. So I leave the politics to other people and really lean into the issues that I care deeply about.”
Ivanka Trump, unlike her brothers, moved to Washington, D.C., with her husband, Jared Kushner, to take on roles within her father’s administration following the election. While some politicos have dubbed her a moderating influence on the president’s oftentimes brash decision-making, Ivanka Trump has largely tried to focus on family leave issues and reportedly climate change while working in the White House.
Officially, Ivanka Trump is a special assistant to the president, an unpaid position. During the interview, she said she advises the president on a “plethora of things.”
During the Fox & Friends interview—the second friendly interview the morning talk show has had with members of the Trump family in the past week—Ivanka Trump danced around a surprisingly pointed question from Earhardt about what specifically, in terms of policy, she disagrees with her father on.

“We’re different people, so there are areas we disagree,” she said. “I think it’s normal to not have 100 percent aligned viewpoints on every issue. I think that would be a very strange scenario.”
Earhardt seemed to agree with Ivanka Trump, praising Trump for meeting with technology CEOs that may not have voted for him and attacking the “left” for believing Trump was “not doing a good job.”
As for Ivanka Trump’s view of her father’s presidency so far, she was quite matter-of-fact.
“I think he’s doing an amazing job,” she said. “I think he’s doing an unbelievable job.”
