A Trump campaign press release from October that lashes out at Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s “close ties with Putin” is circulating online, once again, in the week that members of Congress from both parties called for a broader investigation into the Trump administration’s ties to Russia.
The release is an aggregation of articles and quotes from the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and far-right publication Breitbart News. It organizes the references into four instances when Clinton used her alleged connections to Russian President Vladimir Putin “in exchange for political and financial favors” and demands that they come under scrutiny.
It appears, however, that it is President Donald Trump who now must face scrutiny for possible ties to Moscow.
On Tuesday, Republican and Democratic lawmakers called for a bipartisan investigation into the administration, following the resignation of Trump’s former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn—who misled Vice President Mike Pence over the nature of his communications with the Russian ambassador.
Later on Tuesday, the New York Times and CNN independently reported that members of Trump’s presidential campaign and other Trump associates had frequent contact with Russian intelligence officials prior to Election Day, sparking further turmoil for the nascent Trump administration.
Back in July, journalist and Art of the Deal ghostwriter Tony Schwartz tweeted about how, when working with Trump, he’d noticed the businessman’s tendency for projection:
Something I saw early on w/ Trump: most negative things he says about others are actually describing him. Read his tweets with that in mind

Perhaps Trump should keep that in mind the next time he tweets.
