Rarely does cyber-stalking lead to anything good, but for one Imgur user, quietly lurking paid off in a major way.
A woman named Cesci first reached out to Dean (AKA StrayBullet) on Dec. 4, 2013, after quietly observing the photos he was posting on Imgur from overseas. Dubbed the “ridiculously happy Marine,” the handsome fellow could be seen cheesin’ despite his deployment in Uganda.
I got a lot of love from Imgurians for getting packages, let us not forget about my buddy who only got a bill.
He was so enthusiastic about the photo and video-sharing social network, that he introduced Imgur to the Ugandan soldiers.
Today, during a break in my class, I introduced the wonderful soldiers of Uganda to Imgur. -Ridiculously Happy Marine

The Marine’s zest for life (and memes) caught Cesci’s eye, and she finally worked up the nerve to reach out to him. In a post to the same site where their love first bloomed, she shared the story of her bold overture, and the surprisingly wonderful results.
Turns out the feeling was mutual, and feeling escalated. FAST.
Once Dean was back in America, the two finally met IRL. And the sparks they felt via Imgur were actually the real thing.
Imgur is known for fostering close relationships in its community. It recently hosted the first “Camp Imgur” in Mendocino, California, and wild tales from the outing show that people were in excellent spirits, and felt truly at home among their fellow users. It even had a marriage proposal by the campfire, which means there will be at least a few babies in the future who can say their parents met on Imgur.
Congratulations, you two.
