Some Americans love to call the police over the dumbest things, something that’s become more apparent to the rest of us with the rise of social media. While officers should hypothetically be spending their time dealing with actual crimes, instead they sometimes seem to be fielding absurd disputes and concerns that in no way require law enforcement. At times, these incidents end in tragedy, and other times… they’re just strange.

TikToker @rovi_wade uploaded footage of her own brief encounter with police after she says her neighbor called them on her. The offense? According to @rovi_wade, “dressing inappropriately.”

The cops aren’t actually visible in the video, as the camera remains trained on @rovi_wade herself for the short clip, but voices can be heard off-screen.

“I am fully dressed,” @rovi_wade says. “She just doesn’t like my style. And I told her, ‘My body offends you. That’s what the issue is.’ And I’m allowed to exist and be hot, and I’m going to continue to do so.”

She added that she didn’t know what her neighbor expected the cops to do about her clothing, and that was the end of it.

Commenters on the video are obsessed with @rovi_wade’s confidence as well as her insistence that she’s “allowed to exist and be hot,” which already feels like a statement that belongs on all sorts of social media-influenced merch.

“Sis just became a global icon,” @keziahnicholas wrote.

“I am allowed to exist and be hot: the ONLY energy for 2021,” someone else replied.

Of course, it would also be great if people would stop calling the police—seriously inconveniencing others in the best case scenario—over things that just literally are not crimes or dangerous in any way.

“I genuinely want to know what she thought the cops were gonna do,” one TikTok user wondered.

Another suggested “that (the) woman needs to be charged” because “god knows how many she’s endangered.”

Per viewer request, @rovi_wade ultimately did a separate “outfit reveal” video to show exactly what her neighbor thought required police intervention.

Unless Neighbor Karen genuinely believed @rovi_wade was going to walk around the neighborhood using that spiked choker as a weapon, this looks like a great example of a time when minding your own business is a much better call to make than 911.
