Pay equality for women will one day be a reality—but before then, we’ll probably already have functioning 3D-printed hearts, flying cars, and regular trips to Mars.

That was the message that Kristen Schaal brought Jon Stewart on Tuesday night’s episode of The Daily Show. Schaal knew that her long-hoped-for future was still a long way off, but in her segment, she partied like it was 2058 anyway.

Pay equality has been the law of the land since the John F. Kennedy administration in the 1960s, Schaal explained, and the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act that President Obama signed is supposed to make it easier for women to sue the people who haven’t been paying them equally.

It’s just a matter of offering better educational opportunities for women, improving childcare options, and changing the media and all of society. No big deal.
