Kim Kardashian is getting dragged for sharing a “self-absorbed” post during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Kardashian shared a selfie on Twitter and Instagram Monday, captioned, “sending everyone lots of love today.”
Not everyone appreciated the sentiment.
“Open your purse,” one Twitter user commented.
Another asked Kardashian how many testing kits, hospital beds, and surgical masks her “grotesque wealth” could buy.
“Yes your duck lip selfie is what’s going to help everyone during this time,” another user wrote.
Naturally, multiple people dropped the iconic “Kim, there’s people that are dying” GIF.
Many pointed out that her money—not love—would help in a time like this. In response to the pandemic, 15 states, including New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and California, have shut down restaurants and bars except for takeout and delivery services, which have put many servers out of work. CBS reported Monday an estimated 4 million restaurant workers could lose their jobs due to the coronavirus.
Kardashian posted to her Twitter account the next day, urging her followers, “especially people who are young and healthy,” to self-quarantine and take the pandemic seriously.
“If you care about the health and safety of your mom, father, grandparents, sisters, brothers, children and community … please do not ignore the severity of the warnings to stay inside to stop the spread of this virus,” Kardashian tweeted.
Kardashian also retweeted sister Kylie Jenner, who posted a similar message.
“It’s so important right now to self quarantine to ensure we aren’t endangering ourselves or anyone who can’t handle this virus,” Jenner tweeted.
Kardashian also posted a multi-purpose cleaner, @cleanwithpurple, to her Instagram Story. She said it works “amazingly” and encouraged her followers to “support small businesses, especially right now,” all while disinfecting their homes to stay healthy during the outbreak.
