Happy Halloween! To celebrate, Hilary Duff took to Twitter to apologize for her and her boyfriend Jason Walsh’s joint costume, where they dressed up as a pilgrim and a Native American.

It’s like they didn’t even read our guide to having a non-racist Halloween.
I am SO sorry to people I offended with my costume. It was not properly thought through and I am truly, from the bottom of my ❤️sorry.

Duff said the costume was “not properly thought through.” Walsh also apologized, posting on Instagram that he has “admiration for the indigenous peoples of America.” You know, so much admiration he decided to dress up as a caricature of one. The way “Redskins” is a term of respect, and “Chief Wahoo” keeps Native American heritage alive.
And after Chris Hemsworth apologized for a similar costume, we thought celebrities were doing so well. Sigh.
