Seriously, the clock is ticking.

Match.com relationship expert Whitney Casey told the Daily News that Jan. 5 is the peak traffic day on the dating website.

It seems that after the New Year, lonely singles feel a refreshed sense of optimism that this will finally be the year they find love. That, or they’re terrified they’ll have to spend another holiday season listening to their mother passive aggressively remind them that she was happily married had three children by the time she was your age and why don’t you go out with that nice clerk from the deli?

But, I digress.

Fact is that dating sites across the board see an uptick in traffic this time of year. The single and searching, huddled inside against frosty winter weather, use dating sites most between Dec. 25 and Feb. 14, Casey said.

If you want to take advantage of Internet spawning season, Casey has a few suggestions for your personality profile.

First, pay close attention what photos you use. Full-body shots that show your smiling face tend to get the best response. Avoid “selfies,” especially if you’re a guy. They’re a big turn off.

Ladies, feel free to drop a smiley emoticon or two in your personality profile — Casey says they generate 60 percent more messages from potential dates. Just don’t go crazy with them.

Guys on the other hand should avoid emoticons like they’re actively trying to rob you of a love life — because they are! Men who have a smiley emoticon in their dating profiles get 12 percent fewer responses.

Regardless of gender, Casey advises proofreading your profile for spelling and grammar. If you don’t know the difference between they’re, their, and there you’re never going to pick up that sexy librarian of your dreams.
