On June 30, 1936, Margaret Mitchell’s Gone with the Wind, one of the best-selling novels of all time  was published

According to History.com, Mitchell only launched into the novel after being forced to quit as a reporter at the Atlanta Journal “to recover from a series of physical injuries.” (So all you out of work reporters, there’s hope that you may produce something great with your extra time.)
