If you’ve been an anime fan for a long time, you may remember wandering the aisles of your local Blockbuster and running across the VHS for a film that would later become the foundation of your love for Japanese animation.
That film was Ghost in the Shell (or Akira, or both), and it’s still stunning decades after its original release. If you haven’t seen it since those days, do yourself a favor and pick up the 25th anniversary edition for a much-deserved re-watch. It’s been remastered and cleaned up for Blu-Ray, and word is the transfer is terrific (and it’s criminally cheap as well!).
Plus, there are a lot of things you could blow $7.99 on, but this is probably one of the better ones.
